Anniversary of Beloved Adi Da’s Passing

“This bodily (human) Form is temporary Means — and, after the Lifetime of This bodily (human) Form, the Reflections of It, the Murti-Forms (and so on), will, like the Leelas Generated by My Appearance in This Form, be forever Instructive and Useful as “Points” of concentration, Means Whereby to enter into Communion with Me.

“I will still be Merely Present then.”

Gandhi’s Footprints

Gandhi's FootprintsM.K. Gandhi’s pursuit of liberation from an era of violence and subjugation was thoroughly documented prior to Prerag Cicovacki’s new look at Gandhi’s actual goals and pragmatic approach for humanity’s liberation.  Not only from government imperialism and racism but from the actual impediments to spiritual liberation did  Gandhi himself struggle against. The central issue and the novelty of this new book is its focus on what Gandhi wanted to liberate us for. The book also provides an assessment of how viable his positive vision of humanity was and is.

Cicovacki writes:

“What is paradoxical in Gandhi’s approach is that he himself was a unique individual. To state it even more bluntly, he was one of the most unique persons in the entire history of the human race.  And he left us his autobiography, which is not just a soul’s search for tuth and striving toward self-realization, but one unique soul’s struggle to achieve moksha.”*

*(State of oneness with God or Supreme Self, with knowledge, peace and bliss.)

Gandhi revolutionized the struggle for Indian liberation from Great Britain by convincing his countrymen that they must turn to nonviolence and that India needed to be liberated from its social ills—poverty, unemployment, opium addiction, institution of child marriage, inequality of women, and Hindu-Muslim frictions—even more than it needed political freedom.

Predrag Cicovacki

Predrag Cicovacki PhD

Gandhi’s legacy though not forgotten, is often distorted. Called “Mahatma” and venerated as a saint, he is often misinterpreted. Cicovacki attempts to de-mythologize Gandhi and take a closer look at his thoughts, aims, and struggles. He invites us to look at the footprints Gandhi left for us, and follow them as carefully and critically as possible. Cicovacki concludes that Gandhi’s spiritual vision of humanity and the importance of adherence to truth (satyagraha) are his lasting legacy.

Gandhi’s 5th grandson, Arun opines –

“Cicovacki’s book is a serious and profound attempt to reach the depths of Gandhi’s vibrant way of life. In this troubled world one can only ignore at one’s own peril this book’s message that Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence should be followed without being imitated.”

Code 723: Da Shift Has Hit The Fan!

Adi Da Not Two Is Peace on 723The Buddha said, “Of all relationships, the best is trust.”  But recent NSA revelations have demonstrated that we are attempting to build a world of distrust in a mistaken search for security. Let us begin by dismantling that premise.  Where do we start?

On this day, July 23, 2006, World Friend Adi Da declared a decisive moment in human history for the sake of global cooperation, tolerance, and peace. In His book, Not-Two Is Peace, Adi Da Samraj, speaks to our planet’s violent human situation with a clarion call for global change in the form of a “Global Cooperative Forum”, a unique global institution founded in the inherent truth of prior unity.

From His essay “723:  The Free Declaration of The Universal Moral, Social, and Political Laws of True and Necessary Civilization” (pp 251 in Not-Two Is Peace):

This Free Declaration is the Seed-Utterance of that new and necessary true and right (and truly globally, totally, and universally cooperative) order.

This moment in human-time—July 23, 2006—is the precise and decisive moment of the uniquely new human necessity for all of humankind.

One and all, consider this Free Declaration of your possibility on Earth.

One and all, Be of this Free Wisdom Blessed and made all right—together and at once.

Something new must emerge ….. A new mode of social contract …. an ego-less mode …… based on cooperation, tolerance and universal participation and accountability.

Peace is not only about encouraging peace between nations and governments but is also about you and me and nonviolence in our homes, communities and schools, hence – “Be the change you wish to see in the world!”

You are invited to participate in the initiation of the Global Cooperative Forum, the universal representative body for all of humanity via global conference on Tuesday July 23rd 2013 @ 6:30PM.

Samsara is Dazzling

Director and cinematographer Ron Fricke (“Baraka”) has put together the movie equivalent of one of those eye-popping National Geographic photo spreads about far-flung peoples and places. The movie is a flow of dazzling sequences presented without overt connections.

We see, at various points, Buddhist monks creating a sand mandala, stained glass windows in a cathedral, the manufacture of guns and sex dolls, people praying at the Wailing Wall, erupting volcanoes, garbage pickers, the mountains of Yosemite, an infant being baptized, gun owners, workers in a sulfur mine, meat processing factories, office employees toiling in cubicles, and on and on.

Roger Ebert writes: “Ron Fricke’s “Samsara” is a film composed of powerful images, most magnificent, some shocking, all photographed with great care in the highest possible HD resolution —Filmed over five years, in locations in 25 countries, it is the kind of experience you simply sink into.”

Enjoy this eye-popping trailer!

Peace Day, Everybody-All-At-Once!

Be the change you wish to see in the world. – MK Gandhi

Only everybody-all-at-once can change the current chaos. – Adi Da Samraj

World Peace Day is not only about encouraging peace between nations and governments but is also about you and me and nonviolence in our homes, communities and schools, hence – “Be the change you wish to see in the world!”

Not-Two Is Peace II, 1 by Adi Da Samraj

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon: “On September 21, the United Nations will celebrate the International Day of Peace (Peace Day). Every year since 1982 this day has provided a rallying point for member states and individuals to join forces to end conflict.”

Steven Hoffer / AOL News Surge Desk today suggested a crash course on the primary ways the world has observed previous Peace Days –

1. Do something!

You don’t necessarily need to travel around the planet to meet with the Dalai Lama and Kofi Annan, as International Peace Day founder Jeremy Gilley did when he created the global effort. Gilley will tell you himself:

Review of Tasting The Moon

Going well beyond the bestselling Eat Pray Love, Tasting The Moon tells the story of a “no holds barred” pathway through life—from the author’s eccentric childhood, through the tumultuous 60s, to the ashram of Adi Da Samraj, her spiritual Guru whom she discovered in the 70s.

tasting the moonWith disarming and raw candor, Meg Fortune McDonnell recounts the ego-deaths and transformations she went through as she followed her unorthodox teacher around the globe—and to uncharted spiritual dimensions not located on any map.*

 — *From the publisher

To connect her riveting confessions to current events, McDonnell draws on diverse references from “Vanity Fair” to “The Buddhist Bible” and Alanis Morisette to Ramana Maharshi, deftly tracing the recent epoch of our collective spiritual quest along with her personal adventures.

The three decades McDonnell spent under the tutelage of her enigmatic master were filled with sometimes hair-raising, sometimes hilarious, ultimately uplifting explorations of everything, including: what vampires tell us about the taboo against the spirit and what it really means to be “sexually liberated,” healing debilitating Oedipal wounds and thawing the icy character that freezes out love, uncovering new gender roles and empowering female strengths, dancing as tribal prayer for world peace, recurring and mysterious synchronicities, what true beauty is—in art, friends, & avatars, and blessing meant for everyone.

A fascinating life, masterfully told.

World-Friend Adi Da Says: Not-Two IS Peace!

In Not-Two Is Peace, Adi Da has given humanity a remarkable gift: the explanation for our global human dilemma and its necessary remedy — through embrace of principles He elaborates in this book. These principles can be summarized as follows:

Not-Two Is Peace– Act on the basis of “everybody-all-at-once” — rather than on the basis of egoity and “tribalism”

– Engage a lifetime of ego-transcending schooling in what He calls “zero-point education”

– Establish a “Global Cooperative Forum”: a representative collective of “everybody-all-at-once”, acting in the best interests of humanity as a whole and the earth-world in its totality

Adi Da’s message in Not-Two Is Peace is not merely that human beings should resolve the world’s urgent crises, but that we must do so in a radically new way.

He speaks to many of the same global issues discussed by numerous contemporary authors, but His writing addresses these issues at the “root” level, thereby elucidating the fundamentally egoic forces behind humanity’s dangerous trajectory.

Not-Two Is Peace by World Friend Adi Da

In so doing, Not-Two Is Peace proposes a profoundly new paradigm for world change and a cohesive program of solutions that reflect Adi Da’s comprehensive and penetrating understanding of the workings of the earth-world.

Prior Unity and The Global Cooperative Forum

The message of Not Two IS Peace is not merely that human beings should work to resolve the world’s urgent crises, but that we must do so in a radically new way. At its core, this book is a call to uncover an entirely new disposition within ourselves, a fundamentally different consciousness, from which to engage the grave global challenges arrayed before us.

000a DaPeaceBook

The striking notion put forth in this book is that what humanity must now grow beyond is nothing less than the fundamental orientation of searching for solutions to the world’s problems. Adi Da’s core argument is that the orientation of trying to find or create unity and peace out of all the divided interests of separate groups of people is “not it”— and is, in fact, no longer workable. Rather, what humankind desperately needs today is a profoundly new paradigm, which is summarized here as the principle—and working-presumption—of “prior unity”.

Prior unity is not just a philosophical concept or ideal. It is the structure of existence itself, as ancient seers have declared and even modern physics has demonstrated. To experience and presume prior unity obviates the search to “cause” or “create” unity or peace. The work becomes one of enacting and magnifying the prior unity that is already the felt reality. It is to enable the inherent prior unity of people to come forth on all levels of the world stage. It is a profoundly different context within which to work.

The practical means proposed by Adi Da for manifesting this prior unity is a “Global Cooperative Forum“. This forum would serve the common interests of all of humankind, because it would operate on the basis of the new paradigm of prior unity, which would grant it a unique and inherent moral integrity.

All the fundamental global matters would be in its purview, but approached as one living process, rather than as a multiplicity of competing issues. Participation in the forum would depend upon people’s ability to set aside their personal, national, religious, ethnic, or other forms of identity, to accomplish the work at hand. The paradigm of prior unity would grant them the capacity to merely be there as human beings representing all of humankind.

Adi Da is not naive. He simply speaks the truth as he sees it, with no withholding and no armoring. He is fully aware of the complexity of establishing and maintaining such a forum. Extraordinary leadership, vast programs of education and immense structures of communication will be required. But Adi Da points out that this is the very moment in human history where global interconnectedness—exemplified in today’s technology, such as the Internet—can provide the means to shift the consciousness of humanity in a finite period of time. Nothing even remotely like this has ever been possible before.

The means exist, but the clear message and force of mobilization to use that means for the universal good has yet to emerge. Adi Da is emphasizing that the people themselves—we, the six billion inhabitants of earth—can, and must, cooperatively enact our fundamental will to survive, be free and preserve the Earth.

It is essential that morally enlightened individuals with the skills and connections to bring this forum into being come forward and combine with like-minded others to bring the profound truths stated in the book Not-Two Is Peace into a living form. Adi Da is entirely blessing and empowering humankind with his spiritual influence to make this leap.

The Transcendental Art of Adi Da Samraj

Adi Da Samraj ArtAdi Da Samraj (1939-2008) created art for over forty years with a single intention: the visual communication of truth, and the means to draw the viewer beyond separateness into the paradox of “indivisible unity.”

Artistic Process – Adi Da began his first serious photographic work in the early 1960’s. From the mid 60’s to 90’s he produced a diverse body of drawings, paintings, and sculptural forms. 1998 marked the beginning of an intensive six-year period of photographic and videographic work, moving from black and white to highly saturated color, and featuring multiple exposures composed in-camera. His primary bodies of work from this period use the figurative form and other archetypes to address the deepest issues of human existence.

In 2006 the artist moved to digital technology, while still combining hand-drawn and painted forms as well as photographs within his compositions. In November 2007, Adi Da Samraj reached what he described as the “final resolution” of his entire artistic process. This turning point enabled him to create non-representational art by using a unique method he named “Orphic Font,” or abstractions constructed from “collages of pictographs.” Adi Da felt this work to be the culmination of his artistic work and philosophy, the fully realized expression of “transcendental realism.”

Exhibitions and Critical Acclaim – Full-scale fabrications of Adi Da Samraj’s images have included many forms of media, from monumentally-scaled paints on aluminum, to large-scale pigmented inks on canvas, photographic and videographic works, sculptural light boxes, plasma screen installations, and projected performance events.

Transcendental Art of Divine Imagery by Adi Da

“The image-art I make and do …represents the fulfillment, in fullest technical terms, of what I have always intended to accomplish by means of image-art — to create Self-Portraits of Reality Itself, which is to create the art of Transcendental Realism in the purest sense.”

— Adi Da Samraj / Transcendental Realism

“Reality Itself is Self-Apprehended as Truth Itself, and as The Beautiful Itself, in what Adi Da calls egoless Coincidence with Reality Itself.”
